What is Day School?

Day School (sometimes referred to as “day training”) is a program where your dog can come spend the day with us and participate in structure, training, and socialization throughout the day. Day School is great for dogs of any age (including puppies!).

How Does it Differ from “Doggie Daycare”?

Doggie Daycare tends to be a very chaotic and uncontrolled environment. Our goal with Day School is to provide a structured outlet for all dogs; this includes physical and mental activities throughout the day for your dog. We offer Day School to dogs who are social with other dogs, but we also welcome dogs who are more dog selective or are not social with other dogs. Dogs who are social or selective can partake in play sessions with other social dogs in small groups that we design. Dogs who are not social can partake in plenty of other activities throughout the day including one on one play with a trainer, training sessions, fitness sessions, treadmill, mental games (such as food puzzles), and much more! Day School is run and supervised by dog trainers who can pick appropriate activities for your dog. We do allow intact dogs to join in our Day School program, however females must stay home during their heat cycle. We believe every dog deserves structure and fun in their day while their owner is at work (or wherever)!

We currently limit our Day School to 15 dogs a day to make sure each and every dog gets the individualized attention they deserve!

What Will My Dog’s Day Look Like?

We currently offer full and half day sessions of school days. Full day dogs get priority on the schedule. Each day your dog will partake in activities specifically picked for them by a trainer based on your goals. Each and every dog will partake in training sessions in which we will work on whatever your training goals are with your dog (these will be discussed at the consultation and can be anything from basic obedience to off leash obedience to sports specific training). Play groups will be formed by the trainer with each and every dogs needs in mind. If your dog doesn’t do well with other dogs we will ensure they get one on one playtime with a trainer. We believe allowing dogs to rest throughout the day for short periods of time is very important (think of it as nap time!). During this time your dog will be placed in a crate by themselves where they can rest. We can also give your dog a nice snack during this time too (such as a frozen kong, you must provide at drop off). Upon pick up each day you will receive a report card for your dog that details their day and how they did! We strongly recommend scheduling private lessons during the first 4 weeks of day school. Day school clients get discounted private lessons!

Some additional activities for Day School dogs are:

  • Treadmill sessions

  • Fitness sessions

  • Mental games (such as food puzzles)

  • Sport specific training

  • Hikes and walks

  • Swimming or dock diving sessions

  • and much more!

Day School takes place in our new building in Hanover! We have a fully fenced outside potty and play area so the dogs can run and play outside when the weather is nice (during bad weather the dogs will still use the yard for potty but will play inside!).

Day School is available to our current training clients. If you are not a current training client then please fill out the form below so we can schedule a consultation with you to see if Day School is a good fit for your dog! Consultations are $50 and last about 30 minutes. All dogs will start with the initial day school package after their consultation.

We are offering Day School on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
